After a brief stint in Central Office as a K-6 ELAR and Social Studies Coordinator, I have headed back into the schools. You know the place. Where the kids are. Currently, I live in the country’s third fastest-growing city, McKinney, Texas, and work in the second fastest, Frisco, as a Digital Learning Coach at two elementary schools in Frisco ISD.
I’m a teacher and always will be. After over 20 years with my own classroom from 3rd grade to K-5 Gifted and Talented, I decided one wasn’t enough and began working with teachers and their student. What a blessed career!
I’m passionate about purposeful technology integration, authentic reading and writing instruction, especially using the workshop model, meeting the social and emotional needs of gifted learners, planning with and supporting teachers and principals, and backward design of curriculum and learning experiences that transfer to long-term student success in and out of the classroom.
I’ve been married for 33 years to a wonderful man who can hang bulletin boards and cut lamination, but isn’t so helpful with curriculum support. (That’s okay because I’m not so helpful to him in sales-and-use tax accounting!) My oldest son and his wife are both teachers and they are the proud parents of my first grandbaby and nephew to my two youngest, twins in their 20s. I love spending time with family, am an avid reader, laugher, sports- and movies-lover, and all-out klutz. It doesn’t get any better than this!
